The GAPS M5 is ideal for applications such as ROV tracking, diver positioning, AUV operations, and other underwater navigation tasks that require reliability and ease of deployment.
The GAPS M5 combines a medium-frequency USBL acoustic system with a built-in FOG-based heading and attitude sensor, leveraging iXblue’s proven fiber-optic gyro technology for precise motion compensation. Unlike many USBL systems, GAPS M5 requires no in-field calibration and is free from export restrictions, making it a flexible solution for both domestic and international projects.
This compact and lightweight version of the original GAPS system is recognized as the lightest high-performance USBL on the market, offering rapid deployment on vessels of opportunity with minimal setup. Optional accessories include additional acoustic beacons and an OTS pole mount for easy over-the-side installation.
